Review: Being able to have soba noodles as a celiac (gluten free) is super exciting as they often made with buckwheat and wheat flour 😭 Genji-soba are able to prepare a 100% buckwheat noodle with rice and buckwheat flour tempura. They also cater to celiacs by cooking it in a separate pot and fryer to the rest of the food. It’s a very cosy and welcoming restaurant. Be aware of the times as they open for lunch and then close until dinner. They are also closed on Thursdays but you can double check their opening hours on the website as well.

Review: Before leaving for Japan I already knew about this restaurant and as soon as we arrived in Osaka we rushed there for dinner. They offer a menu with gluten free options with separate cooked soba, broth, tempura. Suitable for celiacs. It took a while but it didn't matter because my dish was fantastic. I chose handmade buckwheat soba broth with tempura. The best tempura I've had so far was here. The shrimp was large and cooked perfectly. I liked the light broth. If you want, there are vegan options.

Review: The genji-soba in the photo was really delicious. Chai served with it also had a unique taste. The portion was a bit small but still enough. A good choice for gluten-free eaters as they have a whole page for gluten-free options in their menu. (Note that genji-soba on the photo was not gluten-free but the soba on the plate seen next to it was made from buckwheat.) They also sell gluten-free soy sauce for 1000 Yen.

Review: I am gluten intolerant and have a fish allergy so finding a place to eat is challenging. I was very excited to seen gluten free and vegan options here so I knew I would be safe. But it felt a bit touristy with mostly foreigners. The tempura was great and I was really glad to try that but the soup flavor was very weak and the noodles were just ok.
