Review: Hands down one of the best gluten-free bakeries I’ve tried in Copenhagen. Everything tastes fresh, rich, and full of flavor – and the vegan options are just as delicious. Even the breads are exceptional!

Review: Small cosy bakery with GF, vegan and dairy free options. I picked a pastry that was a bit too sweet for my taste, but it felt so good to be able to eat a fresh pastry 🥐😅 all people with diet restrictions will understand 😆 Be aware there are no seats indoor, but there are other cosy coffees shops around and it’s located in a lovely area.

Review: LOVED the poppy seed lemon pastry, it was just everything you could want for breakfast! I took my pastry to the Royal Gardens and got a delicious cappuccino with soy milk as well. Lovely gluten free celiac safe breakfast

Review: A gluten free bakery that delivers! So much of what passes for GF in baking is functional, rather than tasty, but even to this non GF pastry lover, the quality and taste of the baked food was excellent. An essential stop for all people on a GF diet who have longed for decent pastries, or even for those who just appreciate a good bakery.

For anyone with gluten sensitivities or dietary restrictions, this place is an absolute dream, every treat is crafted with care and bursting with flavour. We’ve tried countless gluten-free pastries over the years, but this bakery truly raises the bar. The soft, sweet, and indulgent pastries here are a treat for both the eyes and the taste buds. Every bite is a reminder that gluten-free doesn’t mean sacrificing flavour or texture. Here’s what we tried: 1️⃣ Cardamom Bun – perfectly balanced spice and sweetness, with delicate flaked almonds on top. Soft, fragrant, and utterly addictive. 2️⃣ Poppy Seed Pastry – a slightly savoury twist with a crisp, golden exterior and a soft, fluffy centre. The layers are perfectly baked and melt in your mouth. 3️⃣ Carrot Cake Muffin – moist, flavourful carrot cake topped with the creamiest, richest icing. This was our absolute favourite, a true gluten-free dessert masterpiece. The staff are equally amazing! Huge thanks to Silas, who gave us excellent recommendations and made us feel so welcome. The bakery itself is charming, inviting, and Instagram-ready, with every detail thoughtfully crafted. For anyone visiting Copenhagen who loves gluten-free pastries, bakery treats, and sweet snacks, H.U.G Bageri is an absolute must. We’re inspired to try bringing a little of this gluten-free magic back to South Africa and recreate some of these incredible flavours ourselves!
