Review: I came here twice during my stay in Kyoto and this is the BEST gluten free vegan ramen I have had while in Japan. The noodles are amazing (not just the mushy rice noodles, these taste like regular noodles), egg was runny and the black sesame paste added an amazing flavor to the soup. I was there with friends who were not vegan and ordered the regular meat version and said it was good although not the best they have had. But when it comes to vegan ramen, this is the place!

Review: Extremely overrated, if you are a vegan yes most of the menu is vegan friendly and I'm not sure about the taste because I didn't try any vegan items. We tried the wagyu beef ramen, pork ramen and the 2 pieces of fatty tuna sushi. I'm sorry to say the wagyu ramen was ok nothing special, the pork ramen was fine the pork itself was good but both of the portions were relatively small and the eggs were fully cooked The sushi was good even though the rice was crumbly. The service was below average compared to other places in Japan, we were constantly trying to get the waiter attention for a glass of water and on top of the overpriced ramen(approximately 1800 including tax), if you pay with a credit card they will charged you another 3% In conclusion a lot of show and advertisement for nothing special I wouldn't recommend it

Review: I write this to you in my iphone notes app from the countertop bar at this little ramen shop in Kyoto, enough plum wine coarsing through my veins to kill a small horse. I’d never been a plum wine guy until today, but here we are. I had 3 other ramen places book marked in Kyoto that I wanted to try, but they were all closed smh. I told myself the next ramen shop I find that’s opened I will pop into, and that’s how we ended up at Moon & Back Ramen. I knew I was in trouble when I was handed a menu and there were a plethora of vegan options. What legit ramen shop in Japan markets vegan options? I was a bit startled after my bowl of Wagyu Ramen came, as this sweet japanese lady came over with a legit torch and started cooking the wagyu right in front of me. Kinda cool tho. The broth was hella salty and this was overall just the poster child for a 6/10 bowl of ramen, but for being open late it’s not a bad option. You can’t knock the hustle. Review: It says a lot about a place when you go back for a second, and then a third time in a week. There was a bit of a line but it moved fairly quickly, and once inside you realize it was worth it. The spicy vegan ramen still has us talking about it, the texture of the tofu was so interesting and I want more right now. Also, they have free stickers which, come on, that's awesome! Try it! You will not regret it! Discount if paying with cash, so come prepared. The staff seemed fluent in multiple languages, including Japanese, English and Korean. If you're going here today, I'm jealous!
